This year Solidarnosc (Polish Solidarity) is 25 years old....

Solidarnosc/Solidarity *1980-2005*

What is Solidarity?...... Its a free trade union- the first in a communist block country.

Poland became a communist, puppet state of the USSR in 1945 when the West of Europe was enjoying the end of World War II and a time for recovery.

Poles are friendly people but very passionate about their freedom and proud of their heritage. That's why Poles were so determined to cut of the bond to the Soviet Union and become a free, self-governing nation. And what was most beautiful about our revolution, was that it involved people........Your neighbour, mother, brother, bus driver, teacher or pensioner..... Young and old, healthy and sick. All proved to the world that power is in people's hearts and determination.....

Visit http://www.solidarnosc.org.pl/english/about/index.htm for more info........I strongly encourage you to find our more..... Poland, trade unions and communism may sound distant to you. But I'm sure you'll appreciate that now we live in a better world. Unfortunately, one doesn't appreciate this until one has lost it.......
